The other night I plugged my cell phone into the power strip beside my bed.  A few hours later, when I picked up my phone I realized that it wasn’t charging, so I moved it around a bit and the charge light illuminated.  When I checked it again later it was still not charging, so I checked the power strip to make sure that it was plugged in and everything was in tact, but I soon discovered that the power strip was not securely plugged into the wall; therefore, my phone could not charge.  This isn’t rocket science, we all know that electronic devices require electricity in order to perform, well human beings operate the same way.

The Source

I am not necessarily religious. I do not subscribe to the notion that there is only one way to “salvation.” I personally, believe that religions are like languages, a form of communication to our higher selves, a means of connection to something greater than our human form.  Whether you believe in God or not, there is no denying that something powerful is at work all around us. For me this powerful energy is the source of all things and in order to operate at optimal level, you must plug into the source. Your body needs sleep to refuel, your spirit needs to connect to recharge. Whether you connect through prayer, meditation, silence, music, dance, or exercise, you must “plug-in,” every single day (or at least several times a week). Just as your cell phone can only go for so long without a charge, your spirit operates the same way.

Not the ego!

When your spirit isn’t properly charged, you mind becomes a free for all for your ego. Your inner critic begins to rant and rave, planting seeds of doubt, sabotaging relationships, and reeking havoc in all areas of your life. It’s not long before you’re utterly miserable, your energy is low, and your emotions go from one extreme to the other.

There’s always time…

You probably tell yourself pretty regularly that you just don’t have time.  But plugging in is simple, it doesn’t take very long. Gift yourself with a 300 second (5 minutes) pause, to express gratitude for all that is.  When you make plugging in a priority, you will feel an immediate shift in your life.  There is nothing more important than your evolution. When you’re at your best the world and everything in it – is better.
